Here are some of the basic exercises you may encounter in your first phase of rehab.  Some exercises may have to be avoided depending on your condition/injury.

Ankle Pumps - These are generally the first exercise you will learn following a leg or hip surgery, as the purpose is to help increase blood flow.  In the case of an ankle injury, the goal is to get pain free range of motion.  Click here for a demonstration http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVt4fgia1jc

T-band Exercises - These exercises require a resistive band and work best if you can have someone hold the band for you.  You can do them unassisted, as the clips will show, but it may take a bit to get the hang of it.  You may also do these exercises without a band for simple range of motion.  The following are a series of clips for different motions - for dorsiflexion (moving your toes towards you) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3EjorTo-Io ; for eversion (out to the side/away from your other foot) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uyimJx8Abk ; for inversion (turning your foot in/towards your other foot) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzzXB0pYdKc

Achilles / Calf Stretching - This can be done several ways - laying down, sitting, and standing.  The important thing is that you have a safe and pain free way to stretch, so if one doesn't work for you, hopefully another way will.  Remember not to force a stretch, or you can further injure yourself.  Also, one 30 second stretch is better for you than several 5-10 second stretches, so go easy and go longer for more benefit.  Here is a demo of a standing stretch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=po1Lm78ubF4 here is a seated stretch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TVrj71TZ2Q
